Employee Stabbed Inside DC Giant Store: Police
A DC man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a Giant employee in the Van Ness store.
WASHINGTON, DC — A Southeast DC man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a Giant employee at the Van Ness store June 22, police said. Police charged Frederick Irby, 28, with assault with intent to kill.
Officers found the unidentified male employee with multiple stab wounds inside the store in the 4300 block of Connecticut Ave. NW., police said.
DC Fire and EMS personnel transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Giant released a statement on June 22, saying:
“At this time, we are cooperating with local authorities and ask that all of your questions be directed to the law enforcement team handling this unfortunate situation. We want to express our concern for the associate affected by this incident and for all of our associates at the Van Ness store. We are working to provide them with the assistance they need at this difficult time."
