“It’s the feeling you get when you’ve been hit in the cheek with a fluffy-fat pillow; the impact doesn’t hurt, but you find yourself in a different paradigm, pink-faced and juiced for what’s to come next,” DC-born singer/songwriter Dave Goodrich explains. “It’s the combined feelings of elation and confusion that say you’re in love. I used to write about love disillusionment,” Dave admits. “Now, I feel like I’ve evolved to join the human race,” he quotes from his newest single.

There are retro elements lightly sewn into the song’s musical fabric. “Stylistically, imagine that Ed Sheeran, Marvin Gaye, Jason Mraz, Dave Matthews, Carlos Santana, Morrissey, KC and the Sunshine Band, and Elvis Presley all hit the stage together on a disco night at a dance club in 2019. They all feed off each other, and the outcome is fun, danceable, and energized,” Goodrich injects. The song’s instrumentation offers opportunity for a virtuosic bass line by Richard Amoruso paired with a driving quasi Latin drum and percussion foundation. Goodrich’s jubilant vocals gliding over buoyant acoustic and electric guitars backed with keyboard strings top off the production.
