Fatal Shooting Of Baltimore Man In DC Under Investigation

Metropolitan Police Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a Baltimore man Saturday in the Carver/Langston area of Northeast.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a Baltimore man that took place Saturday evening in the Carver/Langston area of Northeast, according to a police release.

On Jan. 11, at about 8:03 p.m., officers from the Fifth District responded to the 700 block of 24th Street, Northeast to the report of a shooting. Arriving on the scene, officers found a man inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the man to a nearby hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The victim, identified as Tavon Cox, 41, of Baltimore, succumbed to injuries on Sunday, Jan. 12, and was pronounced dead.

DC Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411. MPD is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for a homicide in D.C.
