Fatal Shooting In Mayfair Investigated By DC Homicide Detectives

Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the fatal shooting of a Northeast man Monday.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that took place Monday evening in the Mayfair area, according to a police release.

Around 6:08 p.m., officers from the Sixth District were dispatched to the 3500 block of Jay St., N.E., for the report of a shooting. They found an adult man, suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the man to a nearby hospital, but all life-saving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.

Police identified the deceased victim as Cimerron Kennedy, 29, of Northeast.

MPD is offering a $25,000 reward for anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for any homicide in the District. Police ask anyone with information about the fatal shooting of Kennedy to call 202-727-9099 or submit an anonymous tip by texting 50411.
