Fatal Shooting Of Northeast Man Investigated By DC Homicide Detectives

Metropolitan Police Department officers found 31 year-old Martinez Johnson of Northeast​ suffering from gunshot wounds Sunday Morning.

WASHINGTON, DC — D.C. homicide detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of 31 year-old Martinez Johnson of Northeast on Sunday morning in the Carver/Langston area, according to a police release.

Officers from the Fifth District of the Metropolitan Police Department found Johnson suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, after being called around 9:03 a.m. to the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast for the report of a shooting.

D.C. Fire and EMS examined Johnson and found that he had died from his injuries. He was later taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call MPD at 202-727-9099. Anonymous tips may be submitted via the department's text tip line by texting a message to 50411.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who supplies information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for a homicide in the District.
