Filmfest DC Opens on Thursday, Will Showcase 75 Films From 45 Countries

Filmfest DC is celebrating its 30th anniversary with an 11-day festival at area theaters.

Attention all D.C.-area cinephiles: Filmfest DC is back again this year, and the festival will kick off in just two days.

The festival will run April 14-24 and feature dozens of foreign and domestic films. They will be shown at four different locations in D.C.: the AMC Mazza Gallerie at 5300 Wisconsin Avenue NW; the Embassy of France at 4101 Reservoir Road NW; Landmark's E Street Cinema at 555 11th Street NW; and the National Gallery of Art at 4th & Constitution Ave. NW, according to a statement from FilmFest DC.

Opening night will feature "The Dressmaker," an Australian comic drama starring Kate Winslet. The festival, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, will show 75 films from 45 countries over 11 days.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser will be on hand to talk about the festival, and other special guests will be there to hold Q&A sessions after screenings.

General admission is $13, and tickets can be purchased at MissionTix.com or by calling 1-888-996-4774. You can also get tickets at the theater on the day of the show.
