Fire Erupts at Watergate Complex in DC

Firefighters are battling a blaze at the historic Watergate Complex in D.C., site of the infamous break-ins.

WASHINGTON, DC — Firefighters rushed to the site of the Watergate Complex in D.C. to a report of a vacant apartment that had caught fire.

D.C. Fire and EMS tweeted at around 2 p.m. that the fire had been knocked down, and firefighters were dealing with smoke conditions on several floors. No injuries have been recorded.

The blaze broke out on the 13th floor of the complex. Flames could be seen shooting out of an apartment. The fire was out by 2 p.m.

The Watergate Complex is located in the 700 block of New Hampshire Avenue NW.

The Watergate Complex is famous for its hotel, which was the site of the infamous Watergate break-ins, which led to the impeachment and resignation of President Richard Nixon.
