Firework Damages Ice Rink At Canal Park: Metropolitan Police
Police are seeking information from the public about the person who detonated a firecracker at Navy Yard, damaging the ice and safety glass.
WASHINGTON, DC —A firework went off at an ice rink at Navy Yard, rocking the surrounding neighborhood, on Sunday night, Metropolitan police said.
An explosion was reported at Canal Park Ice Rink on M Street just before midnight, and when officers arrived, they found that a large firework was thrown onto the rink and detonated, according to WUSA Channel 9.
The firework damaged the ice and also shattered a pane of safety glass on the edge of the rink, Metropolitan police said.

A photo sent in by a viewer to WUSA Channel 9 showed a large dent in the ice, according to the outlet.
No one was injured, the outlet reported.
