First Degree Murder Charge Filed Against DC Teen: Police

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide Detectives arrested a 14-year-old boy Wednesday in connection with the July 4 fatal shooting of an Oxon Hill, Maryland man, according to a police release.

Officers from the First District responded around 10:57 p.m., on Saturday, to the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, S.E., for the report of a shooting. They found an adult male, suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was taken by D.C. Fire and EMS to an area hospital for treatment, but all live-saving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.

Police identified the deceased victim as Antonio Gardiner, 36, of Oxon Hill.

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court custody order Wednesday, detectives arrested a 14-year-old Southeast boy, and charged him with first degree murder.
