FL Man Charged In Fatal Shooting Near Southwest Waterfront

Homicide detectives arrest a Florida man in connection with the Saturday evening fatal shooting of Terry Hickman.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a Florida man Saturday in connection with the fatal shooting near the Southwest Waterfront, according to a police release.

Officers from the First District responded around 5:26 p.m., Saturday, for the sound of gunshots in the 1000 block of 4th St., S.W. They found a man, later identified as Terry Hickman, 44, of Southwest, inside an apartment suffering from gunshot wounds. After examining him, D.C. Fire and EMS determined that Hickman had died. FEMS transported his body to the Office of the Chief Examiner.

MPD arrested Nijinsky Latassia Dix, 44, of Jacksonville, Florida, and charged him with second degree murder while armed. An investigation revealed the shooting was domestic in nature.
