Will temperatures actually hit freezing overnight in Northern Virginia and DC? It's going to be close.

WASHINGTON, DC — Cover up any plants you want to save tonight, the National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for Thursday night for much of Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. Sensitive plants may die if left outside exposed, according to the forecast, which says widespread frost is expected during the advisory period, which runs from midnight to 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 27.
Temperatures are expected to drop into the low- to mid-30s by dawn, especially away from larger bodies of water and urban areas, the weather service says.
Temperatures will bounce back after the morning, and the 70s aren't all gone yet. But Friday morning does serve as a reminder that, yes, winter is coming.
