Greenbelt Man Charged In Knife Assault Near National Arboretum

D.C. Police arrested a Greenbelt man in connection with a Monday night knife assault near the National Arboretum.

WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department officers from the Fifth District arrested a Greenbelt man in connection with a Monday night knife assault near the U.S. National Arboretum, according to a police release.

On Monday, March 9, around 7:48 p.m., the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal altercation in the 2200 block of New York Avenue, N.E. During the argument, the suspect brandished a knife. Responding officers took the suspect into custody.

MPD arrested Omar Wakeen Borrelli, 33, of Greenbelt, Maryland, and charged him with assault with a dangerous weapon (knife).
