Here's the Most Ticketed Block in DC

WASHINGTON, DC — Thomas Jefferson Street NW in downtown Georgetown is the most ticketed block in all of Washington, D.C. based on data gathered by apartment complex Park Van Ness.

Staff at Park Van Ness, an apartment complex located at Connecticut Avenue NW, examined data from March 2016 from the District of Columbia's Open Data website listing parking violations throughout the city.

A total of 345 tickets were issued on Thomas Jefferson Street NW in March alone. The street runs from M Street to Whitehurst Freeway between 30th and 31st streets on the east side of Georgetown. It is home to Baked & Wired and The Graham Georgetown.

Park Van Ness also found that the most common time to receive a parking ticket in the city is at 4:02 p.m. -- and the second through ninth most common times were all between 4:01 and 4:10 p.m. This is perhaps not surprising, since many signs in the city restrict parking after 4 p.m. to open more lanes at rush hour.

Another interesting finding is it's not people with D.C. plates who get most of the tickets, but rather Maryland. D.C. is second, followed by Virginia drivers, and then Pennsylvania in fourth and New Jersey in fifth.

The most common violation is parking at an expired meter, for which their were 17,461 recorded violations. The second most common was failure to display a multispace meter receipt at 15,230.
