Homicide: 2 Dead, 1 Injured In Weekend Shooting In Brightwood

Two teenagers were killed and a woman was injured Saturday evening during a shooting at a Brightwood residence.

WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department detectives are investigating a weekend shooting at a Brightwood residence that left two teenagers dead and a woman injured, according to a police release.

On Saturday, Feb. 22, around 5:02 p.m., officers from the Fourth District responded to the report of gunshots in the 6000 block of 13th Street, Northwest. Arriving at the residential building, officers found two male teens and an adult female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS found no signs of life in one of the teens. The second teen and the woman were taken to an area hospital to be treated for their injuries. All efforts to save the second teen's life failed and he was pronounced dead. The woman was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The decedents were identified as as Wilfredo Torres, 17, and Jaime Zelaya, 16, both of Northwest.
