Homicide Investigated: Southeast Man Struck, Killed On Bicycle
D.C. Police say a Southeast man was killed after he was intentionally struck by a vehicle as he was riding his bicycle Friday night.
WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the death of a bicyclist struck by a vehicle Friday night in Southeast, according to a police report. MPD identified the deceased victim as David Farewell, 45, of Southeast.
Around 11:53 p.m., officers from the Sixth District responded to the 2100 block of Young Street, S.E., for the report of a person being struck by a vehicle. The officers found Farewell suffering from multiple injuries. D.C. Fire and EMS transported him to a nearby hospital, but all life-saving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.
Following a preliminary investigation, police determined Farewell was intentionally struck as he was crossing the street on his bicycle. The suspect vehicle had fled the scene.
