Homicide Victim Linked To Earlier Fatal Shooting: DC Police

WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department detectives have identified the victim of an April homicide as the perpetrator of a fatal shooting that took place February near Catholic University of America, according to a police release.

Around 8:52 a.m., on Feb. 28, officers from the Fifth District responded to the 700 block of Monroe St., N.E., for the report of a shooting. Police found De’mari Twyman, 21, of Oxon Hill, Maryland, suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS transported Twyman to a nearby hospital for treatment, but all lifesaving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.

As detectives investigated the circumstances surrounding Twyman's death, they identified D’Andre Mickle, 22, of Northwest, as a suspect in the case. They also determined he was the victim in a fatal shooting in the Langdon area.

On April 28, around 11:11 a.m., Mickle forced his way into a residence in the 1800 block of 24th St., N.E., and was confronted by an armed individual. After an altercation ensued, Mickle was shot and killed. The shooting was classified as a justifiable homicide.
