Retiring US Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont says he was so 'humbled' by his first win he ran for seven more terms after that.
“I told Vermonters that (sic) have humbled me since my first election to the Senate in 1974 that I will resign this seat at the conclusion of my term,” he said in a floor speech.
