WASHINGTON, DC — Another round of snow will move into the Washington, DC, area Friday afternoon, setting up what could be a slick and chaotic evening commute, warn weather forecasters. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Baltimore-Washington area from 1 to 7 p.m. The weather service warns drivers heading home from work to plan on slippery road conditions in the District of Columbia, Baltimore and surrounding portions of Maryland and Virginia.
Areas in the winter weather advisory include Washington, D.C., along with Arlington, Falls Church, and Alexandria, plus nearby Prince George's and Montgomery counties in Maryland. Total snow accumulations of one to two inches are expected. The NWS says light snow will increase across the advisory area Friday afternoon, with conditions turning icy on any untreated road surfaces.
