Job Shadow Day Gives Paul PCS Students Glimpse of 'Real World'

Students from Paul International High School participated in the first annual job shadow week.

Students from Paul International High School participated in the first annual job shadow day. Students donned hard hats, Blazers and Neon Vests as they set out to learn the inner workings of a multitude of different professions
"I didn't know that different jobs correlate together," junior Quesean Reid said. "It's a team effort." Reid shadowed the Senior Project Manager and Engineer of Davis Construction and said Learning all the different people and parts that go into building a skyscraper was the most interesting part. "It was amazing. I would recommend any kid or teen my age to go on a job shadow and learn what goes into certain jobs."

The purpose of job shadow day is to expose students to various professional options.

Junior Jose Orellana, who shadowed the College Park City Manager, is proof of that.

"I never thought I would find myself intrigued by the planning of the city," Orellana said. "I might consider this one day. In order to keep everything running in College Park, you need to learn how to finance and budget. The City Managers Job incorporates all that."
