Las Vegas Mayor Wears Caps Jersey After Bet

Mayor Carolyn Goodman made good on her good-natured bet with D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser made a bet before the Stanley Cup Finals between the Golden Knights and the Capitals, and Goodman is fulfilling her end of the bargain two weeks after the Capitals dispatched her hometown team in five games to win the Stanley Cup.

Goodman posted a picture of her at her office wearing an Alexander Ovechkin jersey.

"Goodmans & @CityOfLasVegas always pay off our bets," Goodman wrote in a tweet Wednesday. "Congratulations to @MayorBowser & @Capitals on winning the #stanleycup! Well deserved! Now I know how @Mayor_Bowman felt! We love our @GoldenKnights and look forward to next season. #ALLCAPS."

The bet didn't end with that photo. She also said she would wear it to the Las Vegas Council meeting later that day.

Before the series started, Las Vegas countered the Capitals #ALLCAPS campaign with a #nocaps campaign, even changing the famous Las Vegas sign so they were all uncapitalized letters. Goodman began writing her tweets in uncapitalized letters, prompting Bowser to respond in all capital letters.

Besides wearing the opposing jersey, the bet included a basket of treats from local businesses and "bragging rights."
