Leonardo DiCaprio is Coming to the White House in DC

The Hollywood movie star will be President Obama's guest for "South by South Lawn" on Oct. 3.

WASHINGTON, DC — Hollywood royalty will be paying a visit to the White House next week, all for the purpose of raising awareness of climate change. A-list actor Leonardo DiCaprio will visit D.C. for "South by South Lawn" on Monday, Oct. 3, an effort to "call on every American to roll up their sleeves and discover their own way to make a positive difference in our country," the White House said in a statement.

The event is a spin-off of sorts of South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, which Obama visited to engage in a "conversation on civic engagement." The festival will be streamed live on the White House's official website and Facebook page, as well as on SXSW's website.

During the event, Obama will join a conversation with DiCaprio and climate scientists Dr. Katherine Hayhoe about "the importance of protecting the one planet we've got for future generations," the statement adds.
