WASHINGTON, DC -- The reaction from the National Mall NPS (National Park Service) Twitter account says it all: "Uh oh..."

Those beautiful pink and white hues from the cherry blossom blanketing the Tidal Basin and elsewhere in the D.C. area are in trouble. But that's OK. After all, cherry blossom peak bloom only lasts for a couple weeks, and we got a spectacular one this spring. The green leaves emerging is a sure sign that the bloom's days are numbered.

"A 20-degree warm-up tomorrow accompanied by windy conditions means those blossoms will start moving out of here!" National Mall NPS wrote.
