Major Road Closures in DC This Weekend

The Race to End Women's Cancer will result in significant closures in downtown on Sunday morning.

WASHINGTON, DC — The Race to End Women's Cancer is scheduled for this weekend, and that means significant road closures throughout downtown.

The event set-up time for the Race to End Women's Cancer is from 4 a.m. until 9 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, and the 1200 to 1300 blocks of Pennsylvania Avenue NW will be closed during that time, as well as through the event tear-down time, which is 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. After 1 p.m., the roads should reopen, according to a statement from the Metropolitan Police Department.

In addition, the following road closures will remain in effect during the event, which runs from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.:

  • Route will begin and end at 12th and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
  • East on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW towards 3rd Street, NW
  • South on 3rd Street, NW to D Street, SW
  • West on D Street to 4th Street, NW, north on 4th to Independence Avenue, SW
  • West on Independence Avenue, SW to 7th Street, SW
  • U turn and travel east on Independence Avenue, SW to 3rd Street, NW
  • North on 3rd Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
  • West on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to the finish line at 12th Street, NW
