Major Road Closures Throughout DC This Weekend

WASHINGTON, DC — The Metropolitan Police Department is advising residents of multiple road closures this weekend due to events being held in the District.

"Taste of Georgetown" on Saturday, Oct. 1 will result in several road closures at the waterfront. More than 30 restaurants in the neighborhood will be offering dishes for sampling, as well as beer and wine. The event takes place on K Street NW between Wisconsin Avenue and Thomas Jefferson Street.

The hours of the event are from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., and road closures are in effect from 12 a.m. until 9 p.m. K Street will be shut down between Wisconsin Avenue and Thomas Jefferson Street NW, as well as 31st Street between South Street and K Street, and the alley between 31st Street and Thomas Jefferson Street NW, according to a report from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Also on Saturday is the "Race for Every Child," which is held to benefit the Children's National Health System.

From 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m., the following road closures will be in effect:

• Route will begin and end at 12th and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
• Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to 3rd Street, NW
• South on 3rd Street to D Street, SW
• West to 4th Street, north on 4th to Independence Avenue, SW
• West on Independence Avenue, SW and 7th Street, SW
• East on Independence Avenue, SW
• North on 3rd Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to the start-finish line.

And on Sunday, Oct. 2, the Navy Mile will take place in downtown. The race will start at 6 a.m. and run until 12 pm. on Pennsylvania Avenue. The following road closures will be in effect:

• Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, from 10th Street, NW to 3rd Street, NW.
• 9th Street, from D Street, NW, to Constitution Avenue, NW.
• 7th Street, from D Street, NW, to Constitution Avenue, NW.
• 6th Street, from C Street, NW, to Constitution Avenue, NW.
• 4th Street, from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, to Madison Drive, NW.
• Constitution Avenue, NW, from 7th Street, NW to 3rd Street, NW.
