Man With Gun Arrested Near U.S. Capitol: Police
Authorities said the man was arrested Tuesday in a park near Union Station, prompting police to close several nearby roads.

WASHINGTON, DC — A man with a gun was arrested near the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, prompting police to close several roads while authorities investigated.
According to U.S. Capitol police, the man was taken into custody in a park across from Washington, D.C.'s Union Station. Police secured the park and searched both the area and the suspect's belongings, authorities said.
"At this time we have no reason to believe there is an ongoing threat," police said in a social media statement. "We are working to gather more information and will put out more details when they are confirmed."

During the investigation, police closed two roads, which reopened around 3 p.m.
