Man In Wheelchair Dies After Falling Down Metro Escalator: Report

WASHINGTON, DC -- A man in a motorized wheelchair has died after he fell to the bottom of an escalator on Wednesday at the Columbia Heights Metro station, according to a report.

WJLA reports that the man pressed the elevator button and waiting for 10 to 15 seconds before attempting to use the escalator.

He then went to the top of the escalator and grabbed the handrail in an attempt to ride it to the top, but once he reached the top, he fell to the bottom before he could get off, the report states.

He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
