Massive Changes To Metrobus Service; Wharf, Pentagon Stops Added

Metro is announcing new limited-stop service along 14th street that will begin Jan. 8.

Metro is rolling out significant service changes for Metrobus beginning Dec. 17, which would include limited-stop service along 14th Street (beginning Jan. 8) and stops at The Wharf and the Pentagon.

Metro will also modify routes around the Wheaton Metrorail Station, and will make service changes to 35 routes "aimed at improving on-time performance," according to a Metro statement.

Here are some of the highlights from that statement:

  • Route 52 will be extended to 12th Street and Maine Avenue SW to serve L'Enfant Plaza Metrorail Station via The Wharf.
  • Routes C2, C4, Y2, Y7, and Y8 will be modified near the Wheaton Metrorail Station due to the upcoming closure of Reedie Drive.
  • Additional trips on routes 18P and 21D, funded by the I-395 Expresss Lanes Transportation Management Program, will serve the Pentagon Transit Center.
