Massive Road Closures Throughout DC This Weekend

WASHINGTON, DC — If you've got business to attend to in D.C. this weekend, we recommend that you don't drive. Multiple events will be causing extensive road closures throughout the District both Saturday and Sunday -- and even some on Friday.

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced the following events and road closures:

Purple Stride 5k Walk/Run

The Metropolitan Police Department and the Department of Transportation would like to inform the public of intermittent street closures in conjunction with the Purple Stride 5k on Saturday, June 10, 2017.

The following streets will be closed for set up on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 7:00pm through Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00pm:

• Pennsylvania Avenue, NW from 12th Street to 14th Street
• 13th Street, NW from Pennsylvania Avenue to E Street, NW

The following street closures will occur on Saturday June 10, 2017 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am:

• Pennsylvania Avenue, NW from 12th Street to 3rd Street, NW
• 12th Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 11th Street from E Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
• 10th Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 9th Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 7th Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 6th Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 4th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Madison Drive, NW
• 3rd Street from Constitution Avenue, NW to E Street, SW
• 6th Street from Independence Avenue, SW to D Street, SW
• Independence Avenue, SW from 7th to 3rd Streets, SW
• 4th Street from E Street, SW to Independence Avenue, SW

Capital Pride Block Party

On Saturday, June 10, 2017, the following closure will be in effect for the 2017 Capital Pride Block Party.

The following street will be closed from 12:00 pm until 12:00 am.

• 15th Street, NW from P Street, NW to Church Street, NW

Lawyers Have Heart

On Saturday, June 10, 2017, the Lawyers Have Heart race will take place in the District of Columbia. The event includes a 10k, 5k and fun walk. In conjunction with this event, there will be several street closures that motorists should take into consideration.

The following District of Columbia streets will be closed from 4:00 am to 10:30 am.

• K Street, NW from Wisconsin Avenue, NW to 22nd Street, NW
• Wisconsin Avenue, NW from M Street, NW to K Street, NW
• Canal Road, NW from Whitehurst Freeway, NW to Reservoir Road, NW
• M Street, NW from 27th Street, NW to Whitehurst Freeway, NW
• Virginia Avenue, NW from 27th Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• E Street Expressway, NW from Potomac River Freeway, NW to 17th Street, NW

Equality March for Unity and Pride

On Sunday, June 11, 2017, the Equality March for Unity and Pride will take place in the District of Columbia. In conjunction with this event, there will be several street closures that motorists should take into consideration.

Early Street Closures

The following streets will be closed from 7:30am to 2:00pm.

• I Street NW from 14th Street to 17th Street NW

Street Closures

The following streets will be closed from 9:00am to 2:00pm.

• 17th Street NW from Constitution Avenue NW to K Street NW
• Pennsylvania Avenue NW from 18th Street NW to 14th Street NW
• 15th Street NW from H Street NW to Constitution Avenue NW
• Constitution Avenue NW from 17th Street NW to 6th Street NW
• 7th Street NW from Pennsylvania Avenue NW to Jefferson Drive SW

Streets will reopen to traffic at approximately 2:00pm on Sunday, June 11, 2017.

Capital Pride Festival

On Saturday, June 10, 2017 through Monday, June 12, 2017, the Capital Pride Alliance will be hosting the 2017 Capital Pride Festival in the District of Columbia. In conjunction with this event, there will be several street closures that motorists should take into consideration:

Saturday, June 10, 2017 starting at 5:00pm

• Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between Constitution Avenue and 3rd Street, NW
• 3rd Street, NW between Constitution Avenue and Madison Drive, NW

Saturday, June 10, 2017 starting at 7:00pm

• Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 7th and 3rd Streets, NW
• 3rd Street, NW between Constitution Avenue and Madison Drive, NW
• 4th Street, NW between Madison Drive and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
• 6th St NW between Constitution Avenue and C Street, NW (allowing access to garage)
• Constitution Avenue, NW between 7th and 3rd Streets, NW (with access lane for Smithsonian / National Gallery employees)

Streets will reopen to traffic approximately 2:00 am on Monday, June 12, 2017
