MD Man Charged In July Sexual Assault In Petworth: Report

Police say a Maryland man armed with a screwdriver sexually assaulted a victim in Petworth.

WASHINGTON, DC — Detectives from the Sexual Assault Unit of the Metropolitan Police arrested a Maryland man Wednesday in connection with a July 5 sexual abuse case in Petworth, according to a police release.

Around 8:30 a.m., on July 5, a man approached the victim in the 900 block of Shepherd Street, Northwest. Armed with a screwdriver, he sexually assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene.

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant on Wednesday, detectives arrested Daniel Hernandez, 33, of Mount Rainer, Maryland. They charged him with first-degree sexual abuse while armed.
