MD Man Dead After Crashing Head-On Into Metro Bus

A Clinton, Maryland man died Thursday night after the vehicle he was driving collided head-on with a Metro bus.

WASHINGTON, DC — A Clinton, Maryland man was killed Thursday night when the vehicle he was driving collided head-one with a Metro bus, according to a police release.

A Metro bus traveling eastbound on Benning Road, Northeast, began to make a left turn around 11:53 p.m., onto Minnesota Avenue, Northeast. Marion Dante Fields, 24, of Clinton, Maryland was driving a Nissan Altima in the opposite direction westbound. His car swerved into the left lane and struck the bus head-on.

D.C. Fire and EMS transported Fields to a nearby hospital, but all lifesaving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead. Two passengers in the Altima were taken to area hospitals to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The Major Crash Investigations Unit of the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the collision. Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call 202-727-9099 or text a tip to the MPD's text tip line at 50411.
