Metro Fire Sends Authorities Scrambling, Major Disruptions To Orange/Blue/Silver Lines (Updated)
BREAKING: Service has been suspended at multiple locations due to "fire department activity."

WASHINGTON, DC — Yet another fire and smoke incident late Wednesday morning has led to the suspension of service on Orange, Blue, and Silver lines.
Metro initially tweeted shortly before 11 a.m. that a "track problem" was causing delays for all three lines at Federal Center SW. About 15 minutes later, that was changed to "fire dept activity," leading to train service suspension between Smithsonian and Eastern Market stations on the Orange and Blue lines.
On the Silver Line, trains are operating between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston due to the issue at Federal Center. Riders from west of Ballston on the Silver Line will need to switch to the Orange Line to continue their journey.
