Metro Plunges Into Chaos, 2 Arcing Incidents Reported
Authorities are scrambling to fix the problem as riders in D.C. remain stranded trying to get to work.
WASHINGTON, DC — Massive problems throughout the Red Line Friday morning have caused mass chaos throughout the Metro system.
The Red Line is already in the midst of a line segment shutdown between Shady Grove and Twinbrook as part of scheduled SafeTrack work, but reports have surfaced on Twitter that there have been not one but two arcing incidents during the Friday morning rush hour resulting in more shutdowns on the Red Line.
Earlier this morning, Metro reported that service had been temporarily suspended between Medical Center and Grosvenor because of a "track problem." At 9:15 a.m., Metro tweeted that service had been suspended between Dupont Circle and Woodley Park, also because of a "track problem." Twitter users reported fire trucks outside the Dupont Circle station.
