Metro Work Car Derails on Red Line
Expect delays on the Red Line after an overnight derailment.
WASHINGTON, DC — Red Line riders are likely to face delays Tuesday morning after a Metro work car reportedly derailed overnight.
Metro tweeted shortly after 5 a.m. that Red Line trains were single-tracking between the NoMa and Judiciary Square stations due to an "overnight derailed work car."
As a result, riders should expect crowding and delays, and anyone who can find another way to work should do so, Metro says.

Metro expects the derailment to have a spillover effect into Union Station, which could affect customers of MARC and VRE.
Metro also had early morning problems with the Green line in the Greenbelt area due to a fire investigation at Congress Heights, but normal service had resumed as of about 6 a.m.
