More Than 200 Displaced After DC Apartment Fire
A massive 3-alarm fire broke out in a Northwest DC apartment building Saturday morning, displacing more than 200 residents and injuring 11.
WASHINGTON, DC — A massive 3-alarm fire broke out in a Northwest DC apartment building Saturday morning, displacing more than 200 residents, injuring six residents and five firefighters.
The blaze ripped through the four-story apartment building in the 1300 block of Peabody St. around 3 a.m. Saturday, DC Fire and EMS authorities said.
Residents were forced to escape out windows and down ladders while flames shot through the roof. Authorities said four people were treated at the scene and one person was taken to a local hospital.

Over 150 fighters responded to the scene, and five of them were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The National Capitol Region Red Cross is seeking donations. Additionally, Emery Recreation Center is being used as a sheltering location for the displaced residents.
