Murder Charge Against MD Man In Lincoln Park Crash: Police
D.C. Police charged a Maryland man with second degree murder in connection with a Friday morning traffic fatality involving a scooter.
WASHINGTON, DC — Detectives from the Major Crash Investigations Unit of the Metropolitan Police Department charged a Maryland man with murder in connection with a fatal traffic crash that occurred Friday morning in the Lincoln Park area, according to a police release.
Around 1:29 a.m., officers from the First District responded to the report of a crash involving a motorized scooter and pickup truck at the intersection of 11th Street and Constitution Avenue, Northeast. A preliminary investigation revealed a Ford F-150 was traveling in the wrong direction on 11th Street, Northeast, when a scooter, which was traveling westbound on Constitution Avenue, Northeast, crashed into the passenger side of the truck at the intersection of the two roads. The scooter and its operator came to rest in the roadway.
D.C. Fire and EMS examined the scooter operator and determined the were no signs of life. The operator was declared dead on the scene and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. MPD has not released the name of the deceased victim, pending notification of next of kin.ed

On Friday, MPD arrested Tyrone Maurice Hector, 52, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, and charged him with second degree murder.
