Murder Charge Filed Against Southeast Man: DC Police
Police arrested a Southeast man Tuesday in connection with the July 14 homicide of 58-year-old Paul Lewis Butler.

WASHINGTON, DC — Members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested a Southeast man Tuesday in connection with the homicide of 58-year-old Paul Lewis Butler of Southeast, according to a police release.
Around 4:30 a.m., on July 14, Metropolitan Police Department officers from the Sixth District responded to the report of an unconscious person in the 3900 block of S Street, S.E. They found Butler inside a residence, suffering from trauma. D.C. Fire and EMS examined him and determined that he showed no signs consistent with life.
On Tuesday, the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Mitchell Smith, 49, of Southeast, and charged with second degree murder while armed.
