Murder Charges Await Apprehension Of 2 DC Men: Police

Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives released photos of two D.C. men wanted in separate fatal shootings in the District.

WASHINGTON, DC — D.C. homicide detectives are asking the public's help in locating two suspects in two shootings that led to the death of 32-ear-old Ali Jamil Al-Mahdi of Southeast and 42-year-old Sedrick Miller of Northeast, according to a police release.

Al-Mahdi was found around 2:24 a.m., on Aug. 23, 2021 by Metropolitan Police Officers, who had responded to the 1800 block of 9th Street, Northwest for the report of a shooting. Al-Mahdi, who was suffering from gunshot wounds, was taken to a hospital for treatment, but he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

In the second case, MPD officers found 42-year-old Sedrick Miller of Northeast around 8:30 a.m., on March 4, in the 2300 block of 18th Street, Northeast. Miller had been shot and emergency medical personnel determined that he had died at the scene.

MPD identified 26-year-old Deonte Patterson of Southeast as the suspect in Al-Mahdi's death and 27-year-old Jarrell David Harris of Southeast as the suspect in Miller's death. Police release photos of both suspects.

Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who supplies information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for a homicide in the District.
