National League of American Pen Women Marks 120th Anniversary
The nation's oldest women's arts organization invites the public to its open house arts event.

The National League of American Pen Women, the oldest organization for women in the arts, marks its 120-year anniversary this June. The NLAPW invites the public to a celebration on Saturday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m. that includes music performances, readings and art presentations by members, who come from all around the country. A special display will feature a former member’s sketches of celebrities who appeared on Meet the Press in the 1980s.
The event takes places in the parlor of a historic Dupont Circle mansion that has been home to Pen Women for more than six decades. The Pen Arts Building and Art Museum was built for popular D.C. opera star Sarah Adams Wittamore and retains many of its architectural features. The building features a display of art by members as well as a Vinnie Ream museum. Pen Arts is located at 1300 17th Street NW in Washington, D.C.
A reception will follow the program in the mansion’s elegant dining room.
