National Mall Graffiti: Police Release Photos of Suspect
Police have been looking for the person who vandalized several D.C. memorials with a permanent marker in February.
WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Park Police have released new images of a man suspected in a series of vandalism incidents at four D.C. memorials.
National Park Service rangers first reported graffiti back in February on the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, World War II Memorial, and the D.C. War Memorial. The vandal used a permanent marker to scrawl a few lines of text that vaguely referenced conspiracies, such as the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
Park Police released two images of a suspect from some sort of security camera, and authorities want to identify the person pictured.

Cleanup crews had to painstakingly remove the vandalism with a special type of paint stripper to keep from damaging the historic stone.
