National Night Out 2019: Find Your Event In Washington DC

Neighborhoods around D.C. will hold cookouts and block parties for National Night Out on Aug. 6.

WASHINGTON, DC —— City agencies and neighborhoods throughout Washington, D.C. will participate in the 36th annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event held in communities around the country.

About eight neighborhoods and groups throughout D.C. will turn their porch lights on and host block parties and cookouts in support of National Night Out. Joining them will be police officers, firefighters and other county personnel.

National Night Out is celebrated in many different ways, including block parties, cookouts, potluck suppers, ice cream socials and games for children

Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), National Night Out aims at bringing awareness to crime prevention, generating support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, boosting neighborhood pride and partnerships with law enforcement, and sending a message to criminals that neighborhoods are fighting back.

  • District 1D, Ward 6 - Lincoln Park, 1100 East Capitol St. N.E., 5-9 p.m.
  • District 2D, Ward 3 - Guy Mason Recreation Center, 3600 Calvert St., 5-8 p.m.
  • District 3D, Ward 6 - Northwest Park, New Jersey and O streets, 6-8 p.m.
  • District 4D, Ward 4 - Riggs LaSalle Recreation Center, 501 Riggs Rd. N.E.
  • District 5D, Ward 6 - Rosedale Recreation Center, 1701 Gales St. N.E.
  • District 6D, Ward 7 - National Night Out Kickoff Event, Benning Park Community Center, 5100 Southern Ave. S.E., 3-7 p.m.
  • District 7D, Ward 8 - Fort Stanton Recreation Center, 1812 Erie St. S.E., 3-7 p.m.
  • Asian Liaison Unit - Milian Park, Fifth Street and Massachusetts Avenue Northwest, 6-8 p.m.
