Nationals Shift Start Time Of Season Opener Against Mets To Evening

The Nationals pushed back the start time of their first game of the 2022 season to 7:05 p.m. on Thursday due to a rainy afternoon forecast.

WASHINGTON, DC — The Washington Nationals pushed back the start time of their first game of the 2022 season to 7:05 p.m. on Thursday at Nationals Park due to a rainy weather forecast for the D.C. area.

The game, originally scheduled to begin against the New York Mets at 4:05 p.m., was turned into a night game. Forecasters are calling for a chance of heavy downpours and thunderstorms in the afternoon.

All tickets and parking passes for the 4:05 p.m. start will be honored for the 7:05 p.m. game, the Nationals said.

Left-handed pitcher Patrick Corbin was named opening day starter for the Nationals, while right-handed pitcher Tylor Megill was named the starter for the Mets.

Fans are allowed to bring small umbrellas into the stadium. The game will be broadcast locally on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network.
