Nats Park May Get a Huge Makeover: Report
A controversial proposal to put digital billboards on the outside of the stadium is advancing through the D.C. Council.
WASHINGTON, DC — The D.C. Council has pushed forward legislation that would involve putting five electronic signs on the Nats Park exterior, and civic groups are reportedly not happy.
The Washington City Paper is reporting that the bill will head to a final vote on Dec. 20, and would allow bright LED signage on the outside of the Washington Nationals' stadium in Southeast.
Neighbors who don't want to live near giant LED billboards obviously don't like the idea. Opponents also say the law might allow the proliferation of digital billboards across the District.

The changes would make Nats Park more closely resemble the Verizon Center, which has had flashing screens on its facade since 2013.
Nationals Park hosted its first Nationals game back on March 30, 2008 against the Atlanta Braves. The ballpark cost $693 million to build.
