New CSX Derailment Footage Shows Sparks Flying [VIDEO]
As the investigation into the Sunday derailment continues, a new video raises questions.

Two new videos have emerged of the CSX train that derailed near the Rhode Island Avenue Metro station Sunday morning, with one of them showing sparks flying off the tracks just before the derailment.
Authorities have since contained the dangerous chemicals that spilled from the train after the crash in Northeast in the early morning hours of May 1, and the investigation is ongoing into the cause. One video, posted on Twitter by NBC 4's Mark Seagraves, appears to show sparks flying right before the train derailed.

An additional video posted by Segraves shows a better angle of the derailment as it happened than the one that had been released earlier.

The train spilled three chemicals onto the tracks when it derailed, resulting in the closure of the Metro station and causing continuing disruption to MARC and Amtrak service that also use the tracks. Metro service has returned to normal as it uses separate tracks.
Authorities say a total of 16 rail cars were involved in the accident, which fortunately resulted in no injuries.
The leaked substances include sodium hydroxide, a highly toxic substance, as well as ethanol and a more benign calcium chloride solution.
