New Restaurant Opening Near Nats Park In DC

Mission, a new restaurant and bar, will open this summer on Van Street.

WASHINGTON, DC -- A new restaurant will be opening this summer near Nats Park in Southeast.

Mission, a restaurant and bar from the team behind ventures like Mission-Dupont and Hawthorne, will open at 1221 Van Street, according to a statement.

The two-level restaurant will span 10,000 square feet and have an outdoor balcony, as well as a storefront that will overlook the entrance to Nats Park.

The restaurant will serve tacos, nachos, and other Mexican favorites.

“Mission is the type of home-grown, proven operator that speaks to the authentic, entertainment-driven neighborhood that we are trying to create at 1221 Van Street,” said Jay Klug, Executive VP of Retail at JBG Smith, in the statement. “Mission is a well-known brand among young professionals across the DC-area who enjoy the perfect mix of working and playing in the city. Mission has also earned a stellar reputation for its authentic and delicious Mexican cuisine, which will appeal to people of all ages coming to the Capitol Riverfront District to experience a Nats game, a DC United game, or one of the 300+ events happening in the neighborhood throughout the year.”
