Here's a breakdown of the hours in D.C. for a number of establishments and venues this New Year's weekend.

WASHINGTON, DC — Christmas has come and gone and the final holiday of the year is quickly approaching: New Year's Day. Since it falls on a Sunday like Christmas, that can lead to some confusion about when exactly local museums and services will be available. Here's a complete breakdown of holiday hours this weekend in the District.

D.C. city government facilities: Closed Dec. 31-Jan. 2

Department of Motor Vehicles: Closed Dec. 31-Jan. 2

Library of Congress: Closes at 1 p.m. on Dec. 31, closed Jan. 1-2

All Smithsonian museums: Open throughout the weekend, including New Year's Day and New Years Day Observed

International Spy Museum: Open throughout the weekend, including New Year's Day and New Years Day Observed

Newseum: Closed New Year's Day, open all other days

Washington Monument: Closed until 2019 for repairs to its elevator.

Parking enforcement: Street parking is free on New Year's Day Observed (Jan. 2)

Trash collection: "When a holiday falls on a trash and recycling collection day, collections will 'slide' to the next day for the rest of the week after the holiday through Saturday," the Department of Public Works says on its website. "For example, if the holiday falls on a Monday, DPW will collect Monday routes on Tuesday and so on through Saturday."
