Northeast Fatal Shooting Under Investigation: DC Police

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the fatal shooting of a Northeast man that took place Saturday evening in the Near Northeast area of the city, according to a police release.

Around 5:35 p.m., officers from the First and Fifth districts responded to the 500 block of I Street, N.E., for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Arriving on the scene, they found an adult man unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS determined the victim showed no signs consistent with life and transported him later to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

MPD identified the decedent as Arvel Wills, 31, of Northeast.
