Northeast Man Charged In Double Homicide: DC Police
D.C. police arrested a Northeast man in connection with the fatal shooting of two men Saturday in the Brookland area.
WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a Northeast man Monday in connection with a double homicide that occurred Saturday afternoon in the Brookland area, according to a police release.
Around 2:05 p.m., on Saturday, officers from the Fifth District responded to the 1700 block of Irving St., N.E., for the report of a burglary in progress and the sounds of gunshots. Police found two men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. FEMS determined that both victims had died from their wounds and transported their bodies to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Police identified the two decedents as 59-year-old Marcus Nelson, and 39-year-old Simmeon Williams, both of Northeast.
On Monday, officers from the Fifth District arrested George Bernard Shaw, III, of Northeast, and transferred him to MPD's Homicide Branch, where he was charged with two counts of first degree murder while armed.
