Northeast Man Charged In Washington Highlands Homicide
Homicide detectives arrested a Northeast man Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Anthony Orr on Dec. 7.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a Northeast man Thursday in connection with the Dec. 7 fatal shooting of 30-year-old Anthony Orr of no fixed address, in the Washington Highlands, according to a police report.
Officers from the Seventh District responded around 9:23 a.m., to the 400 block of Xenia Street, Southeast for the report of a person down. Arriving on the scene, they found Orr suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS transported Orr to a nearby hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries, but all lifesaving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.
Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant on Thursday, members of the Major Violator Section’s Fugitive Unit transported Dennis Chase, 28, of Northeast, to the Homicide Branch where he was charged with second degree murder while armed.

At the time of his arrest, Chase was being supervised by the District's Pretrial Services Agency and the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency.
MPD released details of Chase's arrest record, including prior arrests for assault on a police officer, possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device, and possession of unregistered ammunition.
