Northeast Man Dies Following Crash Near Fort Dupont Park

A Northeast man succumbed to injuries he received during a Nov. 16 traffic collision near Fort Dupont Park.

WASHINGTON, DC — A Northeast man died Friday from injuries he received earlier in the month from a traffic collision near Fort Dupont Park, according to a Metropolitan Police Department release. Police identified the decedent as 50-year-old George Minor.

An investigation by MPD's Major Crash Investigations Unit revealed that around 6:02 a.m., on Nov. 16, a Volkswagen Passat was traveling in the northeast direction in the 3300 block of Minnesota Avenue, S.E. At the same time, Minor was driving his Nissan Kicks southwest bound in the same block. The two vehicles collided head on at angle in the center of the roadway.

D.C. Fire and EMS transported Minor to a nearby hospital for the treatment of life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the Passat were also taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Minor succumbed from his injuries on Friday and was pronounced dead.
