Northeast Man Facing Homicide Charge In 2019 Stabbing Case

WASHINGTON, DC — A Northeast man who was already facing an assault charge has now been charged with second degree murder in connection with the 2019 stabbing death of 22-year-old Jamal Green-Lee of Northwest, according to a police release.

Around 4:59 p.m., on April 29, 2019, Metropolitan Police Department officers from the Fourth District were dispatched to the 100 block of Michigan Avenue, Northeast for the report of a stabbing. Arriving on the scene, they found Green-Lee inside a residence suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant on May 9, 2019 officers arrested Matthew Walker 20, of Northeast and charged him with assault with intent to kill.

Green-Lee succumbed to his injuries on Nov. 4, 2020. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and an autopsy was performed. The cause of death was determined to be complications from stab wounds, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, member of the Major Violators Section's Fugitive Unit transported Walker on Dec. 18 to the Homicide Branch, where the charges against him were upgraded to second degree murder while armed.
